Filming began last spring in Hawaii on the new Fantasy Island TV series, airing now on Saturday nights on ABC. A remake of the original series, the new Fantasy Island casts a different light on living one's fantasies.

Hawaii is pleased that Barry Sonnenfeld, the Executive Producer, chose Hawaii to be his Fantasy Island. Nowhere else on Earth will he find the stunning settings for his series. Mr. Sonnenfeld has used three islands for filming. Kauai, the most spectacular island in the chain, is seen at the opening of each show as the plane flys toward the spectacular Na Pali cliffs. Kauai was also featured in the pilot show. You may remember that Kauai was also used in the opening of the original series, featuring the Wailua Falls. Maui was also used in the pilot, with the beautiful Hana Hotel as Roark's home. The hotel has been rebuilt on Oahu, where filming continues.
The special effects in this series are dazzling and will keep you glued to your television sets. McDowell, while not being lovey dovey like the original Roarke, has added a sinister, but fun twist to the role. And you really won't miss Tattoo. His replacements carry their weight in the series.
