Interview with a Velociraptor

9/15

Feeling bad because they had to close off access to the left fork of the Wailua River to all the kayak companies who operate there, the JP crew went to the offices of all the companies and gave them bags of these JP keychains (below). Pretty nice, seem to be made out of pewter. Some friends gave us a bunch.  Another slow day, filming continues.

So I'm heading home tonight, bummed because Ft. Knox has closed it's doors and I didn't have a thing to say. All of a sudden, at a public lookout overlooking the river, I see this guy (below) sitting there with two walkie-talkies. Hmmmm, very suspicious. So I turn around, go hide my van and wander up like any number of visitors do everyday. I hang around for awhile, listening to what is being said and finally, like I didn't know, ask the guy what he is doing. Well, he really didn't want to spend a friendly afternoon chatting with me, but he did say he was doing relay. The filming set is about two miles up the river from base camp and blocked by alot of hills, so anything that is needed on the set must be radioed to him, he in turn uses another walkie-talkie to radio the base camp. Then they use this whole fleet of speedy little zodiac boats to run stuff up and down the river. Not anything really earthshattering, but I did hear.........."tell the last boat to go into base camp that we can't find the camera box. They must have mixed it in with the stuff they just took back."  "Roger." "Tell the set we don't have the camera box at base, must be on the shoreline somewhere." Gees, I hope the camera wasn't in it. I also heard........"tell base to send us up two large wetsuits." Wetsuits!? The water is 85 degrees! Ha! You can tell it's a slow news day.

9/13-continued

Some good news today. They have decided to go ahead and film at the Arboretum, the place you saw in the photos a few pages back. Glad that wasn't wasted time. I guess this will happen Saturday. Suppose they got more script?!

Some of the big wigs heading up the river today. On board was the Assistant Director, who's first name I know is Chuck, his assistant, the Art Director, the Props Manager, some good looking babe and I don't know who else.

Member of the crew relaxing a bit, feeding the peacocks that run all over the place.

Stay tuned for more great stuff, I hope!

I'm told this is the boat the cast will ride up the river in. Gees, are the seats padded?

Sam Neill's dressing trailer. If I had wanted this to be my last day on Earth, I would have tried to get a photo of the inside, but I still have unfinished business in this lifetime.

The rest of the dressing trailers. Notice the security guard walking AWAY from me.
