A new era in cruising arrived on Kauai July 21, 2005!!

The Pride of America

Norwegian Cruise Lines brand new vessel, The Pride of America, arrived on her maiden voyage at Nawiliwili Harbor about 7:45 AM on July 21, 2005. What a beautiful sight as this enormous ship silently slipped into the harbor. Crowds of Kauai residents had arrived as early as 6:30 AM to be sure not to miss this skyscraper of the sea arriving on Kauai for the first time. See the photos below for her arrival. As she slid by towards the pier, we all waved, whistled, hooted and hollered. Hundreds of cruise passengers came out on their balconies to see the wonderful greeting and hooted and hollered back. When the ship arrived dockside, passengers were greeted with hula dancers and other Hawaiian entertainment. The Pride of America will be coming to Kauai weekly.
