It Began In 1933----------

when Lois Weber, once one of Hollywood's most influential female directors, came to Kauai to film what would be her swan song. Sailing over with Cecil B. DeMille, she had high hopes of reviving a once thriving career shattered by a nervous breakdown. This was not the case and White Heat, as this movie was titled (changed from Cane Fire) would be her last film.

It would be 17 years before Hollywood came calling again, when Esther Williams, once a great swimming athlete who qualified for three events in the 1940 Olympics, only to have them cancelled by World War II, arrived on Kauai to film a musical classic, Pagan Love Song, co-starring Howard Keel. Performing her first salt water swimming ballet, Miss Williams was just the first of a virtual pantheon of famous directors and stars to journey to this beautiful island.

The Journey continues as year after year, Hollywood's most accomplished come here to ply their craft. So travel yourself thru the following list of movies filmed on Kauai. Do a search below on any one of them to learn everything you would ever want to know about each one. And after you've finished your cyber trip, come to the beautiful island of Kauai and let Hawaii Movie Tours take you on your own personal cinematic journey.
